Back to the YMCA

Hello everyone!

Last class we returned to the YMCA. This time a group of lovely ladies from the center came tovisit as well. It was very interesting to have a chance to talk with them about when they wereyoung. The members of my group were Ms.Nelly,Ishmell, Kenya, and I. Kenya and I knew Ishmell from the last time we were there. He sat with us as soon as he saw us.
We sat on a table and talked about our lives in general; what we like to do, our traditions in the holidays, food, etc.

Ms. Nelly told us about how she made her own toys when she was a kid. She also talked about it was to do the laundry, since they didn´t have washing machines. It was very hard work.
She also told us how they ironed their clothes, but instead of using electricity to heat up the ironers they used fire. She didnt have electricity when she was a little girl.

A very interesting fact about her is that she has a twin sister that lives in Florida. When I was a little girl I always thought it would be a lot of fun to have a twin sister and switch sometime to fool people. Ms.Nelly told us she did that one time in school. They dressed the same when they were young, and now they shop for each others clothes because they still dress the same. They talk every day sometimes even two times a day. I think it is very important to be close to your family.
We all agreed that our families were very important to us, and its very important for families to spend time together.

Ms.Nelly told us that she was having a very good time and we did too!
After we talked for about an hour, we did drawing we posted them on the cartboards. We realized we share a lot of common interest. It was a very fun experience!
